Dans le livre Les Paradis Secrets d'Yves Saint Laurent et de Pierre Bergé, écrit par Robert Murphy, le célèbre architecte d'intérieur Jacques Grange annonçait la couleur : « Le thème était un Anglais excentrique des années 1950 qui était venu vivre à Tanger. Yves voulait du chintz et une couleur par pièce : une pièce bleue, une pièce jaune, etc. C'était comme meubler une maison pour les personnages d'une pièce de Tennessee Williams ». Il s'agit de la Villa Mabrouka, l'une des résidences d'Yves Saint Laurent à Tanger, et de Pierre Bergé, collectionneurs d'art, de design (Eileen Gray, Pierre Chareau, Pierre Legrain...) et de maisons (rue de Babylone à Paris, Château Gabriel en Normandie, la datcha de Deauville, le jardin Majorelle à Marrakech...). Aujourd'hui, cette demeure aussi privée que célèbre ouvre ses portes en tant qu'hôtel, grâce à l'acquisition et au relookage menés par le styliste et designer anglais Jasper Conran. Douze chambres situées au cœur du plus grand et plus beau jardin de Tanger, à quelques pas de l'agitation de la casbah et de la médina de la célèbre ville blanche.

Yves Saint Laurent (1936‑2008), who began his career as Christian Dior's protégé, was one of the most talented and influential couturiers of his time.
